Weekends and Camps
Ok so it's been a while since I last 'blogged'. Well a lot has been happening and some things are now falling into place. We have had a good response for our weekend camp so we can now get things moving on that front. I have also given out details of the Eastern District event 'Challenge4U' and await response from that. I have also secured a venue for our annual camp and hopefully will be passing out details on that soon. This will be 31st July to 7th August and again this year will be joint with 12th and 14th.
Nice to see recognition for the cyclecross last year at last. Could never work out why having come 1st and 3rd we hadn't been declared overall winners.
Well it seems from the BB mailing list that the subject of admitting girls into the BB has raised its head again. Could be a motion put before Council this year. What do the boys think of the idea? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Perhaps rather than a bunch of well meaning adults making the decision it should be put to the boys what they want. After all it is the Boys' Brigade which means the Brigade belonging to the Boys. Let me have your thougts and ideas on the subject.
See you all soon.
Hello 2004
We are now into 2004 and we have a lot of things planned for this year. Firstly is the Weekend Camp to celebrate 80 years of uniformed organisations at Alan Road. Then there is the Eastern District Danbury weekend and last but not least our own Camp in the summer. Remember to keep an eye out for any updates and information on these events and sign up for them as soon as you can.
We will be back to normal on the 6th Jan and have a new programme of events planned up to the end of April.
Whilst we still have Christmas fresh in our minds here is a good story about Christmas as posted on the BB Mailing list:
Who started Christmas?
=======================
A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children.
After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable; and after hours of hearing both her children ask for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.
She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year: overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don't forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.
Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and stated,
"Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot."
From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice
respond, "Don't worry, we already crucified him."
For the rest of the trip down the elevator; it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word.
If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be.
